The Awards
The Elly Jansen Award has two categories: the Award for Original Articles and the Award for Research Proposals.

About the Award
The Elly Jansen Award celebrates original thinking, research, lived experience and innovative practice in therapeutic communities and relational practice, and are open internationally to people with experience of working or living in therapeutic communities or the wider field of relational practice.
Who can enter the Awards?
The Elly Jansen Awards are open to anyone with experience of therapeutic communities or relational practice. We welcome submissions from a wide range of people, including:

Researchers and academics

People with lived experience

Students

Volunteers

Activists

Others with relevant experience of therapeutic community or relational practice
We use the term lived experience broadly, recognising that it can mean different things in different communities, cultures and contexts, and we encourage anyone who identifies as having lived experience to consider submitting their work.
Award categories
The Award for Original Articles
This Award is for new writing on the subject of therapeutic communities or relational practice, including case studies, a personal experience, an academic paper, or a book review.
The winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000, will have their work published by the Mental Health Review Journal, shared through the Elly Jansen Award website and newsletter, and will be invited to present their article at the prestigious TCTC conference in the UK, organised by The Consortium of Therapeutic Communities.
Two runners-up will be awarded a cash prize of £500. Their articles will be shared with our international audiences through the Elly Jansen Award website and newsletter.
The Award for Research Proposals
This Award is given to an original research proposal into the effectiveness or practice of Therapeutic Communities.
The winner of the Research Proposal Award will receive a cash prize of £5,000.
They will also have their proposal published by the Mental Health Review Journal and shared through the Elly Jansen Award networks, and will be invited to present their initial findings at the TCTC conference, organised by The Consortium of Therapeutic Communities.
